Theatre Classes

The theatre branch started in November 2011 and gives pupils the chance to explore both drama and singing.

The sessions allow pupils to combine the arts for performances and displays. When combined with dance pupils can then achieve the ultimate triple threat.

Theatre pupils perform regularly throughout the year developing performance skills whilst having great fun! Drama Examinations taken with Trinity of London are held annually for pupils wishing to take their hobby further.

Sessions are led by highly experienced teachers.

Our drama teacher Audrie is an accomplished and sensitive teacher who strives to draw the best and most individual performance from her students. Incorporating her knowledge as a performer and reinforcing her work with academic theories, she has the tools and ability to both nurture the rawest talent in the youngest performer and provoke the most accomplished actor to exceed their expectation. As well as a varied portfolio of teaching expertise, she specialises in Mask and Physical Theatre. In this field she is proud to have worked with practitioners such as John Wright, Toby Wilshire, Luke Dixon, Emily Grey and Gregory Doran, and companies including Trestle, NTC. Furthermore, she has worked for The Royal Shakespeare Company as Mask Consultant.

For some drama is a hobby whilst others aspire for a career in the arts. Whatever your child desires Audrie will inspire confidence, build self-esteem, encourage communication and teach acting skills that can stay with your child forever. Classes are fun, challenging and taught with integrity.

Madeleine has had a long and varied career in the world of music, which has seen her work with some of the best known names in show business and the greatest orchestras. Her early career was spent in her native Dublin where she worked as pianist with the RTE Concert Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra.

For six years she was Music Supervisor - responsible for all the musical content and standards - for RIVERDANCE , from Broadway to Sydney and most places between!

She is one of only two women worldwide to be appointed as a conductor for Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and she has worked on LES MISERABLES, MISS SAIGON and MARTIN GUERRE, all for Cameron Mackintosh, along with many of the other big West End musicals, in London and on tour. Madeleine lectured in Musical Theatre at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, and has always been in demand as a vocal coach wherever she was based.

Madeline has worked at the Sarah Louise Ashworth School of Dance since 2014 as our singing teacher. Her work with the children focuses on a blend of healthy vocal technique, a broad range of repertoire and the sheer joy of singing in a group.

The importance of breathing and posture, listening for tuning and accuracy, and working in a team to bring the strongest sound and expression to material are all factors that are part of every lesson.
