PRINCIPAL: MISS SARAH-LOUISE ASHWORTH
Sarah-Louise Ashworth started dancing at the age of three at the Kirkham School of Dancing. She took part in many shows, pantomimes and festivals including 'Joseph and his Technicolor Dreamcoat' UK tour. In addition to this Sarah also attended classes at the 'Louise Browne Yorkshire Ballet Scholarship Centre' in York.
At sixteen she went to train at 'Laine Theatre Arts' on the dance and musical theatre course. Whilst at Laine's she performed in numerous professional shows and productions and was also chosen as a finalist for 'Laine Prelim's'. In 2000 she gained her ISTD Ballet Associate teaching certificate wth Honours.
Sarah-Louise is also a qualified dance teacher of the IDTA and a mutually recognised teacher of the RAD. She continues to successfully take examinations with the IDTA and passed her IDTA Licentiate Ballet in 2012, Associate Modern in 2014 and Associate Tap (level 4) in 2016 all with Honours.
Sarah-Louise has worked extensively as both a dancer and singer in theatre and television. Her career highlights include: Indian Ocean Cruise Line, Page & Moy Cruises, an evening with James Bond, and the 'Hit Parade' Broadway. Recently she adjudicated for 'Festival 4 Stars'.
She is also incredibly proud to have cruised the world as dance captain on the world famous QE2 and performed for the Queen Mother's 100th Birthday Celebrations in London.
Sarah-Louise continues to take regular courses and workshops with the RAD, IDTA, ID Dance and Royal Ballet School. Most recently she has become one of the first certified teachers in North Yorkshire of 'Acrobatic Arts'.
Sarah -Louise has a genuine passion for dance with a desire to help people grow and develop as dancers and artists.
DANCE TEACHER: REBECCA NEACSU
Rebecca began her training at Kirkham Henry Performing Arts at the age of 3 and took part in many shows, pantomimes, festivals and also attended weekly classes at the Louise Browne Yorkshire Scholarship Centre in York.
At the age of 16 Rebecca gained a 3 year scholarship to Northern Ballet School, taking exams in ISTD and RAD gaining her Advanced II. She was specially chosen to demonstrate at the NATD, BBO and the Molly Lake awards and the Jimmy Carr Live Tour. Rebecca graduated in 2005 as Head Girl.
Her extensive cruise ship career began with Costa Cruise Lines and continued for the next 8 years working with Costa and MSC cruise companies as a production Dancer soon becoming Lead Adagio and later Dance Captain and Production Manager.
DANCE TEACHER: ASHTON DANBY
Ashton attended Kirkham Henry Performing Arts from an early age. She successfully auditioned for a place on the Royal Ballet Junior Associate Program and also gained a Scholarship at the Louise Browne Yorkshire Ballet Scholarship Centre where she attended for 9 years.
Ashton has gained distinctions in her examinations with the I.D.T.A. and R.A.D. She then achieved A.R.A.D. on successfully passing her Royal Academy of Dance Advanced 2 Vocational Examination.
At the age of 18, Ashton gained a full scholarship at Bird College in London where she trained in Musical Theatre and discovered a lot about herself and her place within the industry. Her graduate job was as a character performer and dancer in Disneyland Paris followed by a contract performing on the Disney Dream Cruise Liner in the Bahamas from which she has recently returned.
Ashton has been fortunate to combine her work with travel, allowing her to meet new people and create some unforgettable memories. Ashton’s passion for teaching began at a young age when she assisted in classes at Kirkham Henry Performing Arts. She has since taught her own classes at Pickering Everyone Active Gym. Ashton has most recently qualified as an 'Acrobatic Arts teacher'.
DRAMA TEACHER: AUDRIE WOODHOUSE
Audrie Woodhouse is a Professional Actress and Performance Coach with more than ten years of teaching experience.
In her full and varied career as an actress she has enjoyed roles in Theatre, Film and Television. She has a diploma in Musical Theatre from LSMT at The Old Vic and a BA in Performing Arts from Middlesex University.
She most recently graduated from University of York with a Masters in Theatre: Writing, Directing and Performance for which she gained distinction and won the Outstanding Project Prize for Highest Achievement.
GUEST DANCE TEACHER: KERRY WHITFIELD
Kerry was born and raised in North Yorkshire. Following time spent as a J.A (Junior Associate of the Royal Ballet) and York Scholar, she continued her training in London at The Royal Ballet School, White Lodge for a further five years. After this time she developed her training further at London Studio Centre where she gained a Diploma of Higher Education in Theatre Dance.
Kerry graduated with distinction at the Royal Academy of Dance, and now holds Registered Teacher Status with the RAD. She has also been acting as a mentor for the RAD BA (Hons) Ballet Education (BABE) level 5 and 6 students, and teaching on the RAD's international summer schools.
GUEST SINGING TEACHER: MADELEINE HUDSON
Madeleine has had a long and varied career in the world of music, which has seen her work with some of the best known names in show business and the greatest orchestras. Her early career was spent in her native Dublin where she worked as pianist with the RTE Concert Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra.
For six years she was Music Supervisor - responsible for all the musical content and standards - for RIVERDANCE , from Broadway to Sydney and most places between!
She is one of only two women worldwide to be appointed as a conductor for Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and she has worked on LES MISERABLES, MISS SAIGON and MARTIN GUERRE, all for Cameron Mackintosh, along with many of the other big West End musicals, in London and on tour. Madeleine lectured in Musical Theatre at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, and has always been in demand as a vocal coach wherever she was based.
She was pianist for no less than five EUROVISION SONG CONTESTS for Ireland, including the one that launched Riverdance.
All teachers are fully CRB checked and have relevant knowledge in health & safety, first aid & syllabus. All teachers regularly attend seminars, courses & workshops to keep up to date with teaching practices of today.
